COUNTRY LIFE
Vanås Castle, Knislinge, Sweden. 1993. Lipski created dozens of wall sconces from objects and relics he found in sheds and barns throughout the castle grounds. These lit a room in the old arsenal, which he filled with granite cobblestones from a nearby quarry, interspersed with bound copies of the British magazine of the 1920's, Country Life. During the months it was us, many thousands of candles were burned, making heaps of wax on the arsenal floor beneath the sculptures.
