THE WAVE
1991, 20' x 70', Nylon, industrial fans. Shown at The Allen Center, Houston, Texas. Lipski created this flag out of iridescent nylon with The Fabric Workshop of Philadelphia for Lipski's exhibition Who's Afraid of Red, White & Blue. Blown by 4 powerful industrial fans, the piece slowly filled, dumped and refilled with air, undulating through the atrium space of a major Houston civic building. The piece has also been shown in different configurations in Philadelphia, Madrid and Rome.
