THE NEST

Seton Recreational Facility, Calgary AB , Canada 2018

The Seton facility is the world’s largest WMCA, 330,000 sq. ft., with gyms, hockey rinks, an indoor water park, an olympic-sized pool, a theater, a library, and so much more. Lipski has created a giant nest of woven acrylic rods, and three flocks of birds flying to it, each bird carrying an additional “twig’ to the nest.

The bird species—the Great Horned Owl; Swainson’s Hawk; and the Great Blue Heron—were chosen by the community.

They were sculpted by the great realist artist, Christopher Collins.
