WHO'S AFRAID OF RED, WHITE & BLUE?

In 1989, Texas passed a law banning flag desecration, and there were call for a Constitutional amendment. Lipski's response was the group of works titled "Who's Afraid of Red, White & Blue". He worked with The Fabric Workshop in Philadelphia to create a body of flag based works that were shown simultaneously at the Fabric Workshop Museum, The University of The Arts, Philadelphia, Beaver College (now Arcadia) outside of Philadelphia, and at The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. One of the works, Flag Ball #3, was eventually destroyed by a "patriotic" vandal. See also Black By Popular Demand and The Wave in the Installations section.
